I am honoured to have been nominated for the YWCA Metro Vancouver Women of Distinction Awards in the Health, Wellness and Athletics category! It is very exciting to be considered one of the many leaders making a difference in our community.
I am also participating in an online category: the Connecting the Community Award. With your help I will have an opportunity to allocate $10,000 to preventing violence against women. You can vote once every 24 hours from each computer. ywcawomenofdistinction.org//#!ctca
The nominee with the most votes will receive the Connecting the Community Award and Scotiabank will donate $10,000 to the program area of her choice. I have chosen preventing violence against women a cause near and dear to my heart and soul.

I am 100% opposed to violence against women in the home, on the streets and ESPECIALLY in our workplaces. Bullying in the workplace is violence and is associated with sexual harassment.
Both men and women abuse women in the workplace just as both men and women stand by and do nothing to help THOSE who are TARGETS of bullies. Understanding this societal malignancy known as wilful blindness is key to helping to end violence against women. The brightest lights in an organization are chosen as targets of bullies. People who are bullied in the office often suffer from PTSD.
To quote Madeleine Albright first female US Secretary of State appointed by President Bill Clinton in 1996,
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women."
WOMEN NEED TO SUPPORT OTHER WOMEN AND WHEN THAT HAPPENS THE VIOLENCE STOPS.
MY PROJECT "WALK IN MY SHOES' SEEKS TO RAISE FUNDS TO SEND SEX WORKERS TO THE SUPREME COURT OF CANADA WITH THEIR LAWYER KATRINA PACEY OF PIVOT LEGAL SOCIETY TO CHANGE THE LAWS SURROUNDING PROSTITUTION TO MAKE WORK SAFER FOR SEX WORKERS.
THE WORKPLACE MUST BE SAFE FOR ALL WOMEN. ALL WOMEN MATTER.

"It's almost like a Hitchcock Movie and it is crazy making." David Berner.
"The World is a Dangerous Place not because of those who do evil but because of those who look on and do nothing." Albert Einstein.
What to do when you are the target of a workplace bully. Ask the bully to stop. If he/she does not stop, then:
1. Document and report abuse to your employer. (Always use the term sick as opposed to stressed)
2. See your doctor and a counsellor and follow your doctor's advice.
3. File a complaint with the BC Human Rights Tribunal.
4. Retain a lawyer who specializes in human rights and employment law.
